Supporting New Parents through Our Gender-responsive Policies

For a housewife or househusband, balancing work and baby might be impossible... in the past. Look at our Chairperson here, Saniy Amalia Priscila, who has just delivered her firstborn a year ago. In the picture below, we can see Saniy, carrying her newborn baby while giving a presentation at a workshop event. How is this possible?

With the vastly growing technology in addition to the increasing flexibility amidst this uncertain world, juggling between responsibilities at work and home is doable and very possible! Although it is certainly challenging, immense support from the workplace and also flexibility in time definitely help. The frustration, anxiety, and guilt about leaving a baby at someone else's care may be decreased. Navigating post-maternity leave might be easier than ever.

As an organization that works closely with women and youth, giving full support to working parents is one of our top priorities so that they can work and take care of their baby (and family) while keeping their sanity on board. Here are several gender-responsive policies that we implement to show our support to our employees who just gave birth:

1. Flexible Time

We believe in our employees 100%. We give our employees the freedom, autonomy, and flexibility to do their work.

2. Work-from-home Scheme

Some of the roles and works in our organization can be done remotely. With the work from home scheme, it gives our employees the privilege to manage their own time.

3. Maternity Leave

New-parents employees are entitled to a paid leave for 1 month before due and 3 months after giving birth. We would like to ensure that our employees prioritize their newborn and also maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.

In addition to that... we acknowledge and value women in our organization (fun fact: we have a team that is 100% women!). We have designed a specific policy for women, which is:

4. Period Leave

We acknowledge how agonizing it can be for women during their menstrual cycle. Therefore, we provide a period leave for them to take a rest and prioritize their health.
